New Recruiting Trial: Dental Cleaning to Prevent Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease
Researchers at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center are testing whether regular dental cleaning can help prevent chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), a serious complication that can happen after bone marrow or stem cell transplants. This trial is now accepting patients. The study is based on the idea that keeping teeth and gums healthy might reduce inflammation in the body that triggers cGVHD.
WHY IT MATTERSThis trial offers transplant patients a potentially simple, non-invasive way to reduce their risk of developing chronic graft-versus-host disease, one of the most common long-term complications after bone marrow transplantation.
