UniteRare is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Never make treatment decisions based solely on UniteRare information. Always consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using UniteRare, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and UniteRare LLC.
If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the platform. Continued use after any update to these terms constitutes acceptance of the updated version.
2. Description of Service
- UniteRare provides rare disease navigation tools including a disease library, diagnostic support, clinical trial matching, insurance appeal drafting, travel grant discovery, and community forums.
- The platform is free for patients and caregivers.
- We are NOT a healthcare provider.
- We do NOT provide medical diagnoses or medical advice.
- All AI-generated outputs — including diagnosis suggestions and appeal letters — are informational and educational tools, not clinical decisions. They must be reviewed by a qualified healthcare professional before any action is taken.
3. Medical Disclaimer
- UniteRare is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- NEVER make treatment decisions based solely on information from UniteRare.
- ALWAYS consult your physician or a qualified healthcare provider before making any medical decisions.
- In a medical emergency: call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
- AI-generated content (diagnosis suggestions, appeal letters, trial matches) contains errors, hallucinations, and may be outdated. It MUST be reviewed by a healthcare professional before use.
- Disease information in our library is sourced from NORD, OMIM, Orphanet, and other public databases and may not reflect the most current clinical guidelines.
4. Community Conduct
UniteRare is a community of patients, caregivers, and advocates. By participating, you agree to:
- Share experiences, not medical advice. You may share what worked for you. You may not instruct others to take specific medical actions.
- Be kind, supportive, and constructive. Harassment, bullying, and discrimination are prohibited.
- Protect your own and others' privacy. Do not post identifying information about other people without their consent.
- Do not promote unproven treatments, miracle cures, or products without scientific evidence.
- Do not use commercial solicitation, affiliate links, or promotional content without our prior written consent.
- Pharmaceutical company representatives and industry employees must identify their affiliation in any community post. Undisclosed industry participation is prohibited.
- Content that violates these guidelines may be removed without notice. Repeat violations may result in account suspension.
5. Account Responsibilities
- You must be 13 years of age or older to create an account. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You must provide accurate, current information during registration. One account per person.
- Notify us immediately at team@uniterare.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
6. Intellectual Property
- The UniteRare platform, design, software, and data compilations are proprietary and protected by intellectual property law, including pending patent applications.
- User-generated content: You retain ownership of content you post. By posting, you grant UniteRare a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the platform and, with your Tier 2 consent, to include de-identified extracts in aggregate research.
- AI-generated content (appeal letters, summaries, diagnostic suggestions): You may use these for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You must have them reviewed by a healthcare provider before submitting to insurers or using in medical decisions.
- Disease library content is sourced from NORD, OMIM, and Orphanet under their respective licensing terms, with attribution maintained throughout.
- You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialize any UniteRare platform content without our prior written permission.
7. AI-Generated Content
Some features use artificial intelligence (Claude AI by Anthropic) to generate content, including insurance appeal letters, diagnostic suggestions, and trial matches. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information.
- AI outputs are provided for informational and educational purposes only — they do not constitute legal, medical, or clinical advice.
- All AI-generated content must be reviewed by you and your healthcare provider before any action is taken.
- We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of AI-generated outputs.
8. Privacy
Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- Information on the platform is accurate, complete, or current;
- The platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses;
- AI-generated outputs will be suitable for your specific situation.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, UniteRare LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the platform, including but not limited to:
- Harm resulting from reliance on platform content for medical decisions;
- Errors in AI-generated appeal letters or diagnostic suggestions;
- Loss of data or service interruption.
Because this is a free platform, maximum liability is limited to the amount paid for access, which is $0.
11. Dispute Resolution
- Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
- Arbitration: Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved through binding arbitration in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
- Class action waiver: You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits or class arbitration.
12. Modifications
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email to your registered address at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
