Overview
Dahlberg-Borer-Newcomer syndrome is an extremely rare genetic condition that affects multiple body systems. It was first described in the medical literature and is characterized by a combination of features including facial differences, dental abnormalities, and skeletal problems. People with this syndrome may have distinctive facial features such as a broad nasal bridge, widely spaced eyes, and abnormalities of the teeth including missing or unusually shaped teeth. Skeletal findings can include short stature and bone abnormalities. Some individuals may also experience hearing loss and mild intellectual differences. Because this condition is so rare, with very few cases reported in the medical literature, our understanding of the full range of symptoms and the best approaches to treatment remains limited. There is currently no cure for Dahlberg-Borer-Newcomer syndrome. Treatment focuses on managing individual symptoms as they arise. This may include dental care for tooth abnormalities, orthopedic support for skeletal issues, hearing aids if hearing loss is present, and educational support if learning difficulties occur. A team of specialists working together is usually the best approach to care for individuals with this condition.
